| Obverse description | Central field depicts a faithful reproduction of an Ottoman-era coin, rendered in high relief within a beaded inner border. The historical coin design features Arabic-script legends including the mint name 'Islambul' (Istanbul) and the regnal year in the field. Mustafa III ruled from 1757 to 1774, a reign defined largely by the disastrous Russo-Turkish War that ended with the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca — the first major territorial concession the Ottomans made to Russia, and a turning point the empire never fully recovered from. The Darphane has drawn on his reign repeatedly for commemorative issues, partly because his reforms of the Ottoman coinage system give the pairing a certain internal logic.
