Yıldız Kenter was one of Turkey's most consequential stage actresses, co-founding the Kenter Theatre in Istanbul with her brother Müşfik Kenter in 1969 — an institution that remained independent of state subsidy and became a rare platform for serious dramatic work through decades of political turbulence. The Central Bank's commemorative silver program has issued dozens of cultural figures in this format, and Kenter's inclusion followed her death in 2019.
