| Obverse description | Central rectangular cartouche containing multi-line Arabic inscription with the regnal titles and name of Sultan Selim III, with the AH date 1209 appearing in the lower portion of the cartouche. The cartouche is framed by a decorative border of diagonal hatching or floral ornaments at the corners, with a beaded outer rim encircling the entire field. The strike is characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Tripolitan Regency, with a somewhat irregular flan. |

| Reverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in four or five lines, containing the titles and epithets of Sultan Selim III, including references to his sovereignty and the mint authority of the Tripolitan Regency. The inscription is enclosed within a circular inner border of dots or pellets, surrounded by a further Arabic marginal legend running around the circumference, all contained within a beaded outer rim. The flan is irregular and the strike bold though slightly off-center, typical of hammered provincial Ottoman coinage of this period. |
