Obverse description The obverse is printed in dark blue and black with red serial numbers on a light underprint. At centre, a seated allegorical female figure is surrounded by vignettes of a harbour scene and agricultural motifs, with the Guatemalan coat of arms in an oval medallion to the left. The bank title BANCO DE OCCIDENTE arches across the top, with the place of issue QUEZALTENANGO, the date 2 de Noviembre de 1921, and the denomination VEINTE PESOS rendered in letterpress below, flanked by numeral 20 counters at left and right.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in blue, with an elaborate guilloche lattice pattern of repeating rosettes filling the field. At centre, the Guatemalan national coat of arms is set within a large engine-turned medallion, encircled by a wreath of laurel. Numeral 20 counters appear at upper left and upper right, with the legend BANCO DE OCCIDENTE QUEZALTENANGO arching above the central vignette and VEINTE PESOS running along the lower margin.
