Obverse description Black intaglio print on blue and yellow guilloche underprint. A vignette of the Legislative Palace (now Museo Cabildo) in Asunción occupies the center, framed by ornate lathe-work borders. Two red serial numbers appear on the face, with the authorizing law date printed in one or two lines.

Reverse description Printed in dark blue, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate symmetrical guilloche pattern filling the entire field. The Coat of Arms of Paraguay occupies a central circular vignette, enclosed within a beaded ring bearing the country name, and flanked on either side by large ornamental numeral 20s set within scrollwork cartouches. The imprint of the American Bank Note Company, New York, appears in small lettering at the bottom margin.
