Obverse description Modified Cuban coat of arms occupying the central field, depicted with two flags on each side in place of the oak branch and laurel wreath found on the official coat of arms. A circular legend around the periphery reads the country name at top and the face value at bottom, with weight and fineness inscriptions flanking the sides. A rectangular counterstamp reading "LATON" (brass) is applied to the coin, identifying the planchet alloy used for this pattern trial. The overall design closely follows the standard national arms but is clearly differentiated by the altered flanking elements.
