| Additional information |
Cuba hosted the Sixth Summit Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement in Havana in September 1979, a significant diplomatic coup for Castro that placed Cuba — and by extension the Soviet bloc's interests — at the center of a movement explicitly founded on independence from both superpowers. The irony was not lost on Western observers. Over 90 heads of state attended, making it one of the largest gatherings of world leaders ever held in the Western Hemisphere at that time.
Two JMA reference numbers reflect distinct varieties within this issue, likely differentiated by edge treatment or finish type — collectors should verify before purchase.
