| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a large, ornate tughra-style calligraphic device rendered in relief, flanked by a spray of foliage to the right. The entire central motif is surrounded by an elaborate decorative border composed of alternating crescent moons and six-pointed stars arranged in a circle, with an additional outer border of fine beading. The overall design draws heavily on Ottoman coin conventions adapted for the Mahdist State. |
