| Obverse description | Square klippe flan struck in hammered silver, oriented on its corner in the manner typical of emergency siege coinage. The central field bears the interlined monogram 'GWC' (Geoctroyeerde Westindische Compagnie) flanked by the denomination numeral 'XX' above, all enclosed within a beaded inner border. The date '1654' appears in the lower portion of the field beneath the monogram. The overall design is characteristic of the hastily produced emergency currency issued at the Recife Mint during the final stages of Dutch control over northeastern Brazil. |
