The "without YUAN" designation identifies a printing variant in which the romanized denomination indicator was omitted from its expected position — a production oversight rather than an intentional design change. China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation has issued relatively few acknowledged errors from its Beijing facilities, which makes documented omission variants from this series worth noting.
