| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by an intaglio portrait of Henrique Teixeira de Sousa set against a medallion incorporating a reproduction of a traditional pano di terra textile pattern and a cartographic vignette of the island of Fogo; a watermark portrait of Teixeira de Sousa, approximately 25.3 mm in height, occupies the left third of the note. Below the Fogo island map, the signatures of the Governor and the Administrator of the Banco de Cabo Verde appear, flanked by an intaglio-printed bunch of grapes from the Chã das Caldeiras region with a BCV microtext inscription. The offset-printed underprint consists of a lithographic microtext not visible to the naked eye. |
