| Obverse description | Intaglio-printed note with a large central oval cartouche enclosing the denomination "deux cents francs" in bold letterpress script, surmounted by the heading "BANQUE DE FRANCE. SUCCURSALE DU HAVRE." and the bearer clause "IL SERA PAYÉ EN ESPÈCES, À VUE, AU PORTEUR". The border is formed by interlocking oval vignettes and foliate branch ornaments at the corners and sides, each containing allegorical figures and portrait medallions. Three signature panels occupy the lower portion, attributed to the Director, Cashier, and Controller of the branch, with the engraver's imprint "GALLES F." present. |
