Comments

The 200 Lempiras denomination was introduced specifically for the 2021 bicentennial of Central American independence — a milestone shared across the region on September 15, 1821, when the Captaincy General of Guatemala declared separation from Spain, bringing Honduras along with it. Giesecke+Devrient, which has printed Honduran currency for decades, produced this note in Leipzig with a security package that includes optically variable ink and colour-shifting elements, a specification level typically reserved for higher-value denominations in smaller economies.

Three signatures appear, an arrangement reflecting Honduras's tripartite authorization structure involving the central bank president, board secretary, and finance minister simultaneously in office.
