| Obverse description | Central vignette presents portrait busts of the three Mirabal Sisters — Patria, Minerva, and María Teresa — rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint in multicolour tones. The Dominican Republic's shift to polymer for lower denominations in the mid-2000s made the continued use of cotton stock for higher values like this a deliberate choice — polymer performs poorly in humid tropical circulation, and the Banco Central had already seen accelerated wear on earlier plastic issues. Oberthur Fiduciaire, which had held the Dominican printing contract through several series, produced this note with colour-shifting ink on the denomination numeral, a feature reserved for the upper end of the currency range.
P#185 is part of a broader 2010s family refresh that updated security specifications without redesigning the note from scratch.
