Additional information

Issued to mark John Paul II's fourth visit to the Philippines in January 1995, this coin was struck in anticipation of what became the largest single gathering in recorded history — an outdoor papal Mass in Luneta Park attended by an estimated 4 to 5 million people. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas authorized the issue in 1994 ahead of the World Youth Day celebrations hosted in Manila that year.
