| Obverse description | The central field displays the full Coat of Arms of Kenya, comprising an East African warrior's shield bearing a cockerel, supported by two rampant lions, each holding a spear, set upon a decorative base with flora and a scroll bearing the national motto. The date is divided by the shield, with '19' to the left and '78' to the right. The upper legend arcs 'HARAMBEE' on the scroll at the base of the arms, with '14TH OCTOBER' inscribed along the upper rim. The denomination '200 SHILLINGS' is prominently displayed in large characters along the lower portion of the field. |
