| Reverse description | Conjoined bare-headed busts of aviation heroes Jorge Chávez and José Quiñones facing left in high relief, occupying the central field. In the lower left field, a small aircraft is depicted in profile. The denomination '200 SOLES DE ORO' appears within a rectangular cartouche at lower right. The circular legend 'HEROES DE LA AVIACION NACIONAL CIVIL Y MILITAR' arcs along the upper periphery, with the names 'JORGE CHAVEZ' and 'JOSÉ QUIÑONES' separated by two stars inscribed within the inner border. The commemorative dates '1910' and '1941', representing the death years of each hero respectively, appear in the lower exergue separated by a star ornament. |

| Additional information |
Peru issued this piece in 1975 to honor José Abelardo Quiñones Gonzales, the air force lieutenant killed during the 1941 border war with Ecuador — a brief but bloody conflict over the Marañón region that Peru officially won, and which Quiñones entered as a near-mythological figure after being shot down rather than abandoning his aircraft. He was declared a national hero by congressional decree the same year he died, and his birthday, April 22, became Peru's Air Force Day.
The .800 fineness is characteristic of Peruvian commemorative silver of this period, a step below sterling.
