| Obverse description | Intaglio printed in purple and blue-green on a multicolour underprint, with an engraved vignette portrait of Baron Victor Horta positioned at left centre. Bilingual Dutch and French inscriptions frame the composition, with the denomination and issuing bank name rendered in both languages across the face of the note. The engraver's and designer's credits appear in small lettering within the lower design field. |

The 2000 Franc denomination was introduced in 1994 partly to reduce handling costs — a single high-value note replacing awkward multiples in everyday transactions as Belgium approached the final years of the franc before euro conversion. It was among the last major denominations issued before the transition framework locked in exchange rates in 1999.
Unusually for a Belgian national issue of this period, both the obverse and reverse carried separate designer credits — Ponsaers and Golaire working independently on each face. Engraving went to Patricia Vouez, one of the relatively few women to hold that role at the Brussels printing works.
