Reverse description A detailed frontal view of Pha That Luang, the great golden stupa of Vientiane and national symbol of Laos, occupying the central field. The monument is depicted with its distinctive tiered spire rising above a series of smaller decorative turrets and cloister walls rendered in fine relief. The legend 'THAT LUANG' is inscribed in two words along the upper periphery, flanking the apex of the stupa. The date '1998' appears in a rectangular cartouche at the base of the design. The reverse is bordered by a serrated inner rim.
