| Obverse description | Central round hole encircled by an open wreath composed of olive branches on the left and oak branches on the right, tied at the base. The Arabic legend الجمهورية اللبنانية arcs across the upper field above the wreath, while the French legend REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE curves along the lower periphery. The entire design is contained within a beaded border. The composition is finely engraved in the French medallic tradition under the direction of engraver Lucien Georges Bazor. |

| Reverse description | Central round hole flanked symmetrically by two facing lion heads in high relief, each framed by foliate sprays forming a continuous wreath that encircles the hole. The Arabic denomination غرشان ونصف (Two and a half Piastres) arcs across the upper field above the hole, with the Arabic numeral fraction ١/٢ ٢ below it. The denomination 2 PIASTRES 1/2 is inscribed in large Roman characters across the lower field, with the dual dates 1940 and ١٩٤٠ flanking a central dot below the wreath. The word ESSAI appears in the exergue, confirming the trial status of this piece. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
