| Obverse description | At left, an oval vignette contains a portrait of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands in three-quarter view, framed by intricate guilloche lacework. The central field bears the denomination numeral '2½' within overlapping guilloche rosettes, flanked by the territorial inscription 'NIEUW-GUINEA' and the value in full 'TWEE EN EEN HALVE GULDEN' in letterpress. The serial number appears twice in the upper centre and lower right, with 'WETTIG BETAALMIDDEL' and the date '2 JANUARI 1950' at the lower border. |
