| Reverse description | A large adult Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) is depicted in high relief, reclining atop a rocky surface and facing left, occupying the upper portion of the field. Beneath it, two tiger cubs are rendered in vivid polychrome enamel coloring, their striped coats portrayed in naturalistic orange, black, and white tones. The Latin species name 'PANTHERA TIGRIS ALTAICA' curves along the upper rim, and the date '1996' appears in the lower exergue. The contrast between the gilded adult tiger and the colorized cubs creates a striking bi-chromatic composition characteristic of late 20th-century wildlife commemorative issues. |
