Obverse description The Bolivian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting the Cerro Rico and Cerro Menor mountains above an oval cartouche containing a radiant sun, with a palm tree to the left and a breadfruit tree to the right, and a llama at the base. An alpaca stands to the left of the shield, and a sheaf of wheat to the right, with a condor displayed at the apex. Ten stars arranged in an arc below the arms commemorate the ten departments of Bolivia as constituted prior to the War of the Pacific. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE BOLIVIA runs along the upper periphery in Latin lettering.

Reverse description The large numeral 25 dominates the central field in bold relief. The legend VEINTICINCO CENTAVOS curves along the upper periphery in Latin letters, framed by an inner beaded border following the dodecagonal outline of the coin. Two small sprigs of laurel or olive branch flank the base of the numeral, and the four-digit date 1972 is inscribed in the lower exergue between the sprigs.
