By 1938, Nicaraguan monetary affairs were still operating under frameworks shaped by that foreign involvement, and notes like this one reflect a banking arrangement that had little real parallel elsewhere in Latin America.
The American Bank Note Company produced this in fractional córdoba denominations primarily to address a chronic shortage of small-change coinage in rural commerce.
