Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, draped in ermine-trimmed robes of state with an elaborate jewelled clasp visible at the shoulder, engraved by George William de Saulles whose initials 'DeS.' appear beneath the truncation. The king wears the Imperial State Crown, rendered in fine detail with arches, orb, and cross. The peripheral legend reads EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR, separated from the effigy by a beaded inner border. The portrait conveys a formal, authoritative character consistent with Edwardian-era royal coin portraiture.
