Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of King George V wearing the Imperial State Crown, engraved by Bertram Mackennal in his celebrated effigy style adopted throughout the British Empire. The king is depicted in military dress with elaborate collar detail visible at the truncation. The peripheral legend reads GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, with the engraver's initials B.M. appearing at the lower truncation. The design is framed by a fine toothed border.
