| Obverse description | Bust of George Washington facing right, rendered in the traditional portrait style used on the Washington quarter series. The obverse bears the motto IN GOD WE TRUST to the lower right, the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM arcing above, the commemorative dual date 1776 ~ 2026 below the portrait marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, the mint mark, and designer initials JFM in the field. Washington is depicted with his characteristic powdered wig and period-appropriate attire, in keeping with the longstanding numismatic tradition established for this denomination. |

| Reverse description | A three-quarter length effigy of a Continental Army soldier in full period military dress, including a tricorn hat, heavy overcoat, and gloves, facing left and holding a musket, evoking the hardship of the encampment at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania during the winter of 1777–1778. In the middle ground to the right, a log cabin structure representative of the Valley Forge encampment huts is depicted against a snow-covered landscape, reinforcing the historical context. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs along the upper periphery, with LIBERTY inscribed to the right of the soldier's head. The denomination 25¢ appears in the lower right field, REVOLUTIONARY WAR curves along the lower periphery, and designer initials DW and CAC appear at lower left and lower right respectively. |
