Barbados has issued Disney-licensed collector coinage since at least the 2010s, contracting through third-party distributors who hold the licensing agreements rather than through any direct arrangement with the Walt Disney Company. Scrooge McDuck — Carl Barks's 1947 creation, later the protagonist of the 1987 DuckTales animated series — carries obvious thematic logic for a coin: a character whose entire mythology centers on a personal money vault.
