Singapore's first post-separation currency series, the Orchid series, was introduced in 1967 after the dissolution of the Board of Commissioners of Currency Malaya and British Borneo. The BCCS initially maintained currency interchangeability with Malaysia and Brunei under a 1967 agreement, but that arrangement effectively collapsed by 1973 — making the 1972 date of this note a late issue from a period of monetary transition.

The 25-dollar denomination was dropped entirely in subsequent series. It never reappeared in Singapore's currency program, making the Orchid series the only one to carry it.
