Samoa has issued collector gold under the Elizabeth II effigy for years, typically through third-party minting arrangements — this posthumous issue, struck after the Queen's death in September 2022, falls into an increasingly crowded field of memorial releases from Pacific island sovereignties whose minting programs exist almost entirely for the numismatic export market.
