P#CS1 is a souvenir card issue, not a circulating banknote — the Central Bank of Belize produced it as a collector piece, which accounts for the gold foil bonding rather than conventional cotton-linen stock. Belize had only established its Central Bank in 1982, two years before this piece was issued, making early output from the institution relatively scarce in any form.

The red-footed booby depicted is native to the Half Moon Caye colony — one of the largest such colonies in the Western Hemisphere and a protected site under Belizean law since 1981.
