| Obverse description | Three oval-framed portrait busts of Spanish naval commanders are arranged in the field: Admiral A. Galiano (upper left), Commodore Churruca (lower center), and Admiral Gravina (upper right), each depicted in uniform facing inward. A decorative compass rose with radiating lines occupies the center between the portraits, flanked by two anchor motifs. The denomination '25' appears at upper left and the legend 'ECU ESPAÑA' is distributed across the upper field, with a circular mintmark device bearing '95' at top center surrounded by a ring of stars. |

The Santísima Trinidad was the largest warship afloat for much of the late 18th century, originally launched at Havana in 1769 with 112 guns before being rebuilt twice — eventually reaching 140 guns, a figure no other ship of the line ever matched. She was taken as a prize after Trafalgar in 1805, too damaged to sail, and sank under tow in a storm four days after the battle.
Spain's 25 ECU series of the 1990s was produced ahead of the euro transition, with several issues struck to weights making them unwieldy as anything but collectibles. This piece was struck by the Real Casa de la Moneda in Madrid.
