| Obverse description | The central field displays the crowned royal cypher of Queen Margrethe II, rendered as an ornate interlaced monogram surmounted by a heraldic crown, positioned to the left of the central hole. To the right of the hole, a finely detailed oak branch with lobed leaves occupies the field. The date appears in the upper portion of the coin above the hole. Mint master and engraver initials appear at the base of the design flanking a heart-shaped mint mark. |

Denmark's 25 øre denomination had a troubled final chapter. Rising metal costs through the 1970s repeatedly prompted discussions about abolishing the smallest coins outright, and this copper-nickel issue was itself a cost-cutting response to those pressures — the previous series having already gone through compositional changes. The denomination was ultimately discontinued in 1990, just two years after this type ceased production.
