| Reverse description | Central circular field contains the Khukuri (traditional Nepalese curved knife) displayed upright, flanked by two crossed wheat or grain sprays, with the numeral 25 and the Devanagari denomination 'पचीस पैसा' (twenty-five paisa) inscribed below. This central medallion is enclosed within an ornate twelve-sectioned lotus-petal border, each petal containing a segment of the Devanagari legend invoking the goddesses and deities. The surrounding legend reads 'श्री भवानी' and 'श्री श्री श्री गोरखनाथ', distributed across the petal panels. The outer rim is defined by a beaded border. |

Struck to commemorate the coronation of King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev on April 8, 1956, this issue was one of several denominations released as a matched commemorative set — an unusual move for Nepal at the time, which had historically marked royal accessions with far less numismatic fanfare. Mahendra's coronation itself came nearly four years after his father Tribhuvan's death in 1955, the delay partly attributable to astrological consultation, a standard requirement for fixing an auspicious coronation date in the Nepali royal tradition.
KM#770 is the copper-nickel iteration; a silver version was produced simultaneously for the same event.
