| Additional information |
Saint Helena issued this crown-sized piece to mark Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee, one of dozens of similar commemoratives produced across British territories that year. The island's connection to the Crown runs deeper than most — it was administered directly by the East India Company from 1659 until 1834, when the British government assumed control partly in response to the costs of housing Napoleon's exile there after 1815.
KM#6 is the copper-nickel circulation strike; a proof version was also issued for collectors that year.
