| Reverse description | A finely engraved Rhinoceros Hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros) is depicted in profile facing right, perched amongst naturalistically rendered foliage branches that frame the left and right sides of the field. The bird's distinctive large casqued bill and long tail feathers are rendered in high relief with detailed feather texture. The legend ENGGANG appears centrally in the lower field above the denomination inscription 25 RINGGIT, which is prominently displayed along the bottom. A beaded inner border encircles the entire design. |

Issued as part of a WWF-backed conservation series, this coin was struck to raise international awareness of endangered species native to the Malaysian peninsula and Borneo. Bank Negara's decision to produce a high-denomination silver piece at a time when Malaysia was still consolidating its post-independence monetary infrastructure reflected deliberate positioning toward a collector export market rather than domestic circulation.
The series sits among the earliest conservation-themed coinage from any Southeast Asian central bank.
