Issued to mark the July 1981 marriage of Charles and Diana, this coin is one of dozens of Commonwealth gold pieces struck for the occasion — Bermuda among a wave of dependent territories that authorized commemorative issues within weeks of the wedding announcement. The Royal Mint supplied blanks and technical support to several of these programs, though striking itself was contracted through private mints in most cases.

KM#29 was produced in strictly limited numbers with no circulation intent.
