| Additional information |
Tromelin is an uninhabited French territory administered from Réunion, and its numismatic output is issued entirely for the collector market — no population exists to circulate anything. The "Scattered Islands" designation covers several remote Indian Ocean territories claimed by France, some disputed by Madagascar and Mauritius, making their issuing authority a minor diplomatic irritant as much as a geographic fact.
The brass-and-paper colorization construction places this firmly in modern novelty territory. The Bengal tiger has no geographic connection to Tromelin whatsoever.
