| Reverse description | A right-facing portrait bust of Kwame Nkrumah, first President and founder of Ghana, occupies the central field, modeled in high relief with fine detail to the facial features and close-cropped hair, the work of sculptor Paul Vincze. The bust is unadorned and presented in a naturalistic, contemporary style befitting a head of state. The Latin legend CIVITATIS GHANIENSIS CONDITOR arcs along the upper periphery, translating as 'Founder of the State of Ghana,' while the name KWAME NKRUMAH curves along the lower border. Two small five-pointed stars flank the lower legend as decorative stops, echoing the national symbolism found on the obverse. |
