Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King George VI facing left, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, with the engraver's initials HP visible at the truncation of the neck. The circumferential Latin legend reads GEORGIVS VI D·G·BR·OMN·REX F·D·IND·IMP, separated by raised dots, encircling the portrait within a beaded border. The king is depicted with a plain, unadorned bust, rendered in a restrained and naturalistic style characteristic of mid-twentieth-century British royal portraiture.
