Kamenka, a small town on the Dniester's right bank, contains the remains of the Wittgenstein estate — built by Ludwig Adolf Peter zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Ludwigsburg, the Prussian-born field marshal who served the Russian Empire against Napoleon and was rewarded with vast land grants in the region. The park itself survived Soviet collectivization in fragmentary form. That Transnistria's central bank is now issuing commemorative coinage for it in 2025 — while the territory remains internationally unrecognized — makes this a quietly peculiar artifact of a state asserting cultural permanence through numismatic means.
