| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the Grand Master's quartered heraldic shield, divided by a bold cross into four quarters, each bearing a rampant lion in relief — an attribute of Hugues Loubenx de Verdala's personal arms. The shield is surmounted by a decorative helmet or crest element. The entire device is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with the circular Latin legend running along the outer periphery. The hammered fabric imparts a characteristic irregular planchet and uneven relief typical of late 16th-century Maltese coinage. |

| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a large, boldly rendered eight-pointed Maltese Cross occupying the central field, its characteristic V-shaped indentations at each arm clearly visible. The cross is presented in plain relief against a flat, unadorned field. A continuous beaded border frames the entire design, within which the circular Latin motto legend is inscribed. The simplicity of the reverse composition contrasts effectively with the heraldic complexity of the obverse, emphasizing the Order's iconic symbol. |
