Issued to mark the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer on 29 July 1981, this gold foil novelty piece was produced as a souvenir item rather than genuine circulating currency. Antigua & Barbuda was one of several Caribbean territories that released commemorative "notes" in this format during the early 1980s — the $30 denomination being purely ceremonial, chosen to align with the wedding date rather than any monetary logic.

The gold foil substrate makes these susceptible to creasing and delamination, and truly flat examples are harder to find than the issue quantity might suggest.
