Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in high relief in the portrait style established by engraver Jerónimo Antonio Gil. The king is depicted with a flowing wig dressed in the fashion of the period. The surrounding legend reads CAROL·III·D·G·HISP·ET·IND·R·, identifying him as King of Spain and the Indies by the Grace of God, with the date 1784 appearing in the lower exergue flanked by dots. The dentilated border frames the entire design.
