Obverse description Jerusalem cross pattée dividing the field into four quarters, each alternately charged with the castles of Castile and the rampant lions of León, rendered in the typical macuquina (cob) style with irregular flan and bold, raised devices. The cross arms extend to the beaded border, with the heraldic charges occupying the quadrants in the traditional Castilian arrangement. Partial circular legend surrounds the design on the irregularly shaped planchet.
