| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a triangular pyramid surmounted by a radiant sun, flanked at the base by two fortified towers resting on waves, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The field between the inner circle and the milled edge is decorated with branches of grain at the top and fruiting branches at the sides. The circular legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL DEL ESTADO DE HONDURAS runs along the upper portion of the outer border, with a small dot at the base of the legend. The overall design is rendered in a bold relief typical of mid-nineteenth-century Central American coinage. |
