| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Royal Arms of Spain in the pillar-and-waves (columnario) style, featuring the quartered shield with castles and lions, surmounted by a royal crown. To the left of the shield appears the assayer initial P and to the right the denomination numeral 4, both in the field. The surrounding legend reads CAROLUS III D G HISPAN ET IND REX, separated by small six-pointed rosette stops, identifying Carlos III as King of Spain and the Indies. The design is executed in the bold, mechanical style characteristic of milled Spanish colonial coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. |

| Reverse description | Central device depicts the Pillars of Hercules, representing the Strait of Gibraltar, with two crowned columns rising from stylized waves, flanking two hemispheres of the globe surmounted by a royal crown — the classic globo or world design of the columnario series. The mint mark G appears to the left and right of the columns in the field, with the date 1767 displayed along the lower periphery between rosette stops. The circumferential legend UTRAQUE UNUM, meaning 'Both as One,' encircles the upper portion of the design, proclaiming the unity of the Old and New Worlds under the Spanish Crown. |
