| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the quartered arms of Castile and León, displaying alternating castles and rampant lions within a beaded inner circle. The mint mark 'P' appears at lower left of the shield, referencing the Potosí mint. A bold Latin legend encircles the design in the outer field, reading partially 'HISPANIARVM' along with the royal name. The coin exhibits the irregular, slightly convex flan characteristic of hammered colonial macuquina coinage of the period. |

| Reverse description | Central design features the crowned Pillars of Hercules flanking a large numeral '4' denoting the denomination, with stylized waves at the base representing the Atlantic Ocean. The mint assayer mark 'P' appears prominently above between the crowned pillars. A continuous Latin legend occupies the outer ring, reading 'HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM REX', asserting Philip II's claim as King of the Spains and the Indies. The overall strike displays the characteristic irregular outline and flat areas typical of mid-sixteenth century Potosí macuquina silver coinage. |
