Obverse description Draped bust of Ferdinand VI facing right, wearing a long curled wig and armored or draped shoulders, within a beaded border. The surrounding legend reads FERD·VI·D·G·HISPAN· (Ferdinand VI, by the Grace of God, King of Spain), with small stars at the base of the bust. The portrait is rendered in a baroque style typical of Spanish colonial proclamation coinage of the mid-eighteenth century. A suspension hole is noted at the top, indicating later use as a jewel or pendant.
