Obverse description Half-length effigy of King Christian III facing right, depicted in full plate armor without a helmet, holding a scepter or mace in his left hand. The figure is partially enclosed within an inner circle, with the royal legend disposed in the outer field. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic crude hammered style of early sixteenth-century Danish coinage. The Latin legend identifying the king as elected ruler of Denmark encircles the design.
